Established on 6 June 1997 with the signing of the Bangkok Declaration, BIMSTEC consists of seven Member States, namely Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. As the chair of BIMSTEC during 2022-2023, Thailand will closely work with all Member States towards realizing the vision for Prosperous, Resilient, Open BIMSTEC or “PRO BIMSTEC”, while incorporating the Bio-Circular- Green Economy Model (BCG) as a guiding concept in each sector of cooperation, to acheive peace, stabilty, economic growth, and sustainability in the Bay of Bengal Region.
